Driving factors of direct greenhouse gas emissions from China’s pig industry from 1976 to 2016

چکیده
Livestock cultivation is a significant source of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, accounting for 14.5% the total anthropogenic emissions. China responsible considerable share global livestock particularly caused by pork production. We used Kaya identity and logarithmic mean Divisia index (LMDI) to decompose national annual GHG emissions from enteric fermentation manure management in pig farming 1976 2016. decomposed sources into five driving factors: (1) technological progress (e.g., feed improvement); (2) structural adjustment sector; (3) agriculture; (4) affluence; (5) population growth. The results showed that net sector increased 16 million tons (Mt) carbon dioxide equivalents (CO2eq) during study period. decomposition analysis revealed agriculture, growing affluence, growth contributed an increase production 23, 41, 13 Mt CO2eq, respectively. changes animal husbandry mitigated –51 –11 Further optimizing economic structures are critical further reducing China’s industry. Our highlight dominant role emission reductions farming.

Greenhouse gas emissions from rice
Rice provides the staple food for over 60% of the world’s population. Globally 80% of rice is grown by small farmers in low income and developing nations, and in India rice farming is a key source of employment for the 60% of Indian workers still dependent on agriculture for work. Yet rice production is also an important source of greenhouse gas emissions, for example responsible for between 3 ...
متن کاملEstimating greenhouse gas emissions using emission factors from the Sugarcane Development Company, Ahvaz, Iran
Background: Greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions are increasing worldwide. They have harmful effects on human health, animals, and plants and play a major role in global warming and acid rain. Methods: This research investigated carbon dioxide (CO2) and CH4 emissions obtained from different parts of the Hakim Farabi, Dobal Khazaei, and Ramin factories which produce ethanol and yeast. Seasonal rates ...

متن کاملGreenhouse Gas Emissions from Wastewater Treatment System
Besides its great potential in controlling water pollution from different sources, waste water treatment system generates significant amount of greenhouse gases. Hence, reducing the emission of greenhouse gases from the wastewater treatment plants is the major concern. The correct understanding and estimation of the greenhouse gases emitted from different points of the plan is essential to tack...
